The following prizes were awarded in 2001:

Meet the 2001-2002 Executive Committee

 

The first democratic election of a member to any of the Specialist Advisory Committees on Higher Surgical Training was conducted by the Society in 2001

Mr Jonathan Hyde has been elected Young Consultant Representative on the Executive Committee commencing March 2002

Mr Frank Wells was elected to the SAC for 2001-6.

Debate and Controversies
The external review into cardiac services in Oxford was released into the public domain on Wednesday 15th November, 2000. The report was commissioned by the South East Regional Health Authority amidst rising concerns over dysfunctional aspects within the surgical unit. Oxford surgeons aggrieved that unlike the hospital management they had no preview of the report, its summary or conclusions.
