Vein Graft Preservation after Harvest for CABG: A National Scope of Practice Review

During and after harvesting for use as a conduit for CABG, the saphenous vein is submerged in a preservation fluid of the surgeon’s choice. There is no consensus on which fluid is best and so a broad spectrum of variation exists between surgeons. Therefore, this scope of practice review aims to establish the current practice across all adult cardiac surgery units in the UK.

We would like all cardiac surgery units in the UK to report their preferences for vein graft preservation. All information will be anonymised and will not be directly compared to clinical outcomes.
